Internal theft and cash discrepancies are a real risk in beauty salons. The nature of the business — multiple employees handling cash, tips flowing in various forms, walk-in payments that are hard to track — creates opportunities for shrinkage.

The Fingerprint Solution

Biometric fingerprint login and fingerprint time clocks target common weaknesses: shared passwords, buddy clock-ins, and unauthorized access. Because each login is tied to a person's fingerprint, sharing access or clocking in for someone else becomes much harder.

Role-Based Access Control

Not every employee should have the same system access. A well-configured POS separates roles:

• Technician: View schedule, check in clients, process basic payments
• Front desk: Manage waitlist, schedule appointments, process all payment types
• Manager: Void transactions, apply discounts, run reports, adjust pricing
• Owner: Full access including payroll, inventory, and financial reports

Cash Drawer Accountability

Each cash drawer opening should be logged with who opened it, when, and why. Voids and refunds should require manager authorization (a PIN, swipe card or fingerprint, depending on the system). End-of-shift cash counts are recorded and compared to the system total. Any discrepancy generates an alert.

Audit Trail

Every transaction, void, refund, discount, and cash drawer opening should create a permanent record linked to the employee who was logged in. This audit trail is invaluable for identifying patterns and resolving disputes.
